Gilded Veil is a tea of rare devotion — crafted on the sacred slopes of Mengding Mountain in Sichuan, where tea has been cultivated for over a thousand years. Its transformation begins with a process called “Menghuang” (蒙黃, “sealed yellowing”), a slow and intricate technique where fresh leaves are repeatedly wrapped, steamed, and gently rested. This delicate cycle coaxes out the tea’s golden hue, softens its vegetal sharpness, and creates the mellow, layered flavor that defines yellow tea.

Most yellow teas undergo 4–5 compressions. A premium grade may reach 9. But Gilded Veil is pressed and released 12 times, a one-of-a-kind craft reserved for the youngest buds of spring. Each cycle folds the orchard’s warmth deeper into the leaves, building richness while retaining purity — like twelve veils of silk draped over light.

Flavor & Aroma

The aroma rises soft and floral, like spring orchards touched with orchid and magnolia. On the palate, young buds yield a honeyed sweetness, delicate corn silk, and a subtle nutty undertone. Layers unfold with each sip — from sunlit meadow brightness to a mellow warmth — until the finish lingers with a clean, golden sweetness.

Mouthfeel

Supple and rounded, the liquor flows across the tongue with a satin-like smoothness. Neither heavy nor thin, its body feels serene, carrying a soft after-sweetness that lingers like a golden thread, leaving the mouth refreshed and clear.

Origin & Craft

From Mengding Mountain, Sichuan Province, where misty peaks, fertile soil, and pristine climate shape some of China’s most revered teas, Gilded Veil inherits both tradition and rarity. The leaves — tender spring buds — are handpicked and entrusted to the Menghuang process.

Twelve rounds of orchard compression — far beyond the usual standard — refine the tea into something extraordinary. Each cycle deepens sweetness, smooths texture, and locks in the tea’s radiant golden character. Cold-brewed for 6 hours in New York, Gilded Veil presents its intricate profile with clarity and grace.

Mood & Experience

Drinking Gilded Veil is like walking through sunlight caught behind twelve silk curtains. The taste is meditative, layered, and rare — a living reminder that patience creates beauty. Its antioxidants restore, its golden liquor uplifts, and its quiet warmth clears the mind.

With every sip, you taste not just a tea but a ritual of time: a craft perfected through twelve veils, a tea that exists only once in a lifetime.
